Thai Children Day and My Reflection- Nurturing our Children's Spirituality

By Ianpassion

Every January 13 is a Children day in Thailand. Kids wait for this day every year. Those who are near the Prime Minister Building in Bangkok can have a chance to sit the chair of the Prime Minister. Those who are in the provinces can enjoy amusements and gifts-giving organized by each local government.

As it was our schedule to be in Hatyai (the main city in the South of Thailand), we decided to go to the airfield of the Royal Thai Air Force. There were many people. Everyone cheered when a fighter plane got wild in the sky. It sounded very loud, like rumbling and echoing the entire atmosphere. Nana and Nemi pointed up - airplane, airplane, airplane...they were so happy.

Hatyai International Airport was right across the airfield of Royal Thai Air Force so we could see runways and airplanes taking off and landing. And behind the fence line made from rope, just in few distances a C130 and a helicopter were parked.

One more thing that made this day entertaining for every child, parachuters went up in the sky by a helicopter then jump. From where we were standing, each looks a tiny bug gliding in the vast sky. Kids could witness how they manage themselves to land in the oval field not and not on rooftops or runways.

Kids could also enjoy the inflammable playground, parlor games, gifts, food, and exhibition of military and rescue facilities.

I am not sure if it is still working

If you are in Hatyai with your kids during this period of time (January 13), I would suggest that you should not miss this Children Day celebration. Take your kids to the airfield of the Royal Thai Air Force.

What I was thinking about these children day was the Word of our Almighty Father. As a parent, I have responsibilities to provide the material needs of our children, but most importantly is to provide food for their soul.

Three passages from the Scripture that reminded me:

Deuteronomy 6:6-7

Love the Lord your Father with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be in your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.

Train up a child in the way he should go, Even when he is old he will not depart from it.

Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Father.

I meditated the heart of our Almighty Father through these passages. There is no doubt that He wanted our next generation to walk with Him, live according to His precepts, enjoy His care and love, and keep our Kingdom-family heritage.

Many are successful in ministering to others, but they failed in their own home. Parents cannot continue the genealogy of faith in their family because of time constraints, lack of love, and unhealed hurts.

Therefore, we need to be passionate to be the ambassador of heaven in our own home, passing our DNA (Divine Nature of Abba) - His love to our children and to our next generation.

That is why Joshua made a declaration of faith "As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord," (Joshua 24: 2,15).
