By Ianpassion Refreshing river stream in Manang, Satun, Thailand |
I went into the forest for a hike.
What refreshed me most was the stream of fresh, cold water where I washed my face after hours of hiking and sweating. With the Thai scarf on my head, I took it off to dry my face.
This is truly a blessing, to live close to nature. The more time I spend in these surroundings, the more I understand why King David wrote many of his songs while he was out in nature, looking at rivers, trees, mountains, and more. When he spoke of “living water,” I now understand and feel its meaning deeply.
When you take a walk in the forest, psychologists call this activity therapy for your soul. But in the Word of the Father Almighty, it can be an encounter with Him and a source of healing.
In that moment, I realized how creation itself draws me closer to the Creator. The cool water reminded me not only of refreshment for the body but also of the living water Jesus promised, which refreshes the soul. The forest became my place of worship, and the sound of the flowing stream was like a song of praise rising to heaven.
